Megawatts, Castlegar, BC | 5.8 - 8 pitches

We started climbing Megawatts around 12:15 on Sunday afternoon and finished up around 3:45pm. We climbed as a party of 3 with Justin leading, Wesley in the middle, and me taking up the back. Wesley’s first multipitch!!

New sign at the base of the climb

Pitch 1 (5.8 - 8 bolts, 40m); Pitch 2 (5.7 - 7 bolts, 40m)

Reminder - don’t get tangled in your own ropes!

Top of pitch 3/4 (5.4 - 4 bolts, 30m/ 5.6 - 4 bolts, 30m)

When we climbed Megawatts earlier in the summer, Justin brought a 70m rope so we linked a few pitches. This time, we climbed with 60m half ropes and learned that they are not quite long enough for linking pitch 3/4. Justin, Wesley and I did a party of 3 simul-climb for about 5 meters until Justin reached the anchors and put us on belay.

Pitch 5 (5.8 - 11 bolts, 52m.)

Pitch 5 has one tricky step from the ramp with no bolts to the face.

Pitch 6 (5.8 - 8 bolts, 40m)

Pitch 7/8 (5.8 - 6 bolts, 30m/ 5.5 - 5 bolts, 25m); Scramble from top of climb to top
